New survey: Most people aren't afraid of vaccines

I hope to dig into this study from Yale's Cultural Cognition Project a little more in weeks to come, but I wanted to point it out because it undermines two big ideas that are very prevalent in online science and skeptic discussions — First, that the anti-vaccine movement is big and growing and, second, that you can organize people who oppose vaccines into recognizable cultural subgroups. In other words, the vast majority of Americans already ignore Jenny McCarthy's medical advice and it's inaccurate to characterize the few that don't as hippies.
