Melvin the Magical Mixed Media Machine (http://www.melvinthemach)

Melvin the Machine was created by studio HEYHEYHEY and is, what they call a 'super moment' at which the experience counts rather than the end result. Initally Melvin featured for 10 days in MU artspace during the 2010 Dutch Design Week where around 14.000 people came to see Melvin perform. In February the video was shot in the beautiful 'De Ploeg', a (former)factory designed by Gerrit Rietveld. A new video and more information about Melvin and the people who made it all possible can be found on the website — By HEYHEYHEY at 4:16 AM Thu

Last night Ai Weiwei was released after 79 days of police detention. In the country's capital galleries dare not show his work. But buildings are a little harder to hide away, and so it is that we look to his architectural work, in the art district of Caochangdi, in order to find Ai Weiwei's work in his own country. — By kapookababy at 1:02 AM Thu
