(Video link) Bill Murray was David Letterman's guest last night, promoting his FDR movie, Hyde Park on Hudson. But since Mr. Murray is not one to just show up and do PR, he made a much more exciting entrance than usual. A warning to all of my acquaintances: the next time you invite me to your house, I'm going to enter like this, so don't ask me to bring food. After the jump, if you're interesting in seeing what Bill Murray keeps in his pockets, the full segment from Late Show with David Letterman.
Gilda Radner was in the news this week -- because she wasn't considered "news" enough for some of the affiliates of Gilda's Club. That story had a less sad ending than originally thought, with only a small number of Clubs dropping Gilda's name and not the organization as a whole. But in an attempt to keep Gilda's relevance alive, here is a very heartwarming story told by Bill Murray, her friend and former Saturday Night Live castmate, about the last time the two saw each other at a party thrown by Laraine Newman. It's not a new story, but it's a nice one worth sharing (and remembering):
Artist Casey Weldon has cast Wes Anderson favorite Bill Murray as almost every character in Wes Anderson's movies. No, really, this is just as great as you're thinking it is. More images after the jump.
In an item that actually has nothing to do with the "development hellish" Ghostbusters 3, Deadline is reporting that director Ivan Reitman will be directing the "reboot" (that's what they're calling it here) beginning next summer. So, that is, apparently, happening. What is not happening is Bill Murray being a part of this movie. And there is your latest entry in the Ghostbusters 3-Bill Murray Involvement Saga. If you've been keeping track, this is the second Ghostbusters 3-related item in a row to report this without any contradicting statements by Bill Murray. So, if a third story comes up stating that he won't be involved, expect Bill Murray to show up at a kickball game somewhere and say "It's showtime!" (via Deadline)
It's not his birthday, but does it even have to be for us to celebrate the existence of Bill Murray? Eclectic Method has put together this short and sweet supercut of Murray moments. Clocking in at just over a minute and a half, feel free to watch it multiple times if needed. It can only make you happier. (via BuzzFeed)
We interrupt your web surfing for a brief update on the Ghostbusters 3-Bill Murray Involvement Saga: In a recent interview with Metro, Dan Aykroyd stated that Bill Murray "won't be involved" in the movie, even though such a development is "sad." Stay tuned for Bill Murray's inevitable contradictory statement. This has been a public service announcement. (via Huffington Post)
We all know that Ghostbusters 3 is not going to happen, because Bill Murray will waffle back and forth until everyone is dead and no one will be able to do the movie with actual ghosts. But that doesn't mean we can't report on new developments about it. It's like hearing your really fun cousin, Dan Aykroyd, talking about the awesome band he's in. It mysteriously never, ever seems to produce any kind of music, but he's having a great time talking about it.
And this time, he's talking about the "awesome new writer" they got to write songs for them: Etan Cohen, who wrote Tropic Thunder, Idiocracy, and Men In Black 3, has been hired to write a script for Ghostbusters 3.
Oh wait, I just realized that covering this movie amounts to insanity.
