<p>In his bizzarre 1976 short film, <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0125118/">Girl Chewing Gum</a></em> (above), <a href="http://www.johnsmithfilms.com/texts/sf3.html">John Smith</a> aimed a camera at a busy East London street corner and "directed" the living scene, as if the passers-by, vehicles and birds were waiting out of shot for instructions. <a href="https://twitter.com/hbeschizza/">Heather</a> and I recently found ourselves at the same corner in Dalston and decided to shoot a quick tribute (below). In the intervening decades. everything there has changed--and, of course, nothing at all.
