Rudy Rucker
Rudy Rucker is a writer, a mathematician and a computer scientist. Born in Kentucky in 1946, Rucker moved to Silicon Valley when he turned 40. Rucker has published twenty-five books, primarily science-fiction and popular science. He was an early cyberpunk and an editor at Mondo 2000. He often writes SF in a style is characterized as transreal. His most recent novels were Frek and the Elixir, a far-future epic about a boy's galactic quest to restore Earth's ecology and As Above So Below, a historical novel based on the life of the sixteenth century painter Peter Bruegel. Rucker is a professor emeritus of computer science at San Jose State University, where he created a number of freeware programs relating to chaos, artificial life, cellular automata, higher dimensions, and computer games. He is presently working on The Lifebox, the Seashell and the Soul, a nonfiction book about computers and the nature of reality. More Mail Art Fun: Pass journals around through the mail or to perfect strangers on the street and see where they end up. People log into the 1000 Journals site from all over the world to report journal sightings. I wonder if that one journal I read about is still laying on a table at McDonalds in Tokyo? Link

Just in time for Valentine's Day: Sometimes love makes you the fool, while other times it makes you the psychotic freak who can't help but leave loads of scary messages on your ex's voicemail. Such is the case on Psychoexgirlfriend.com. Some poor bloke broke up with his girlfriend who then proceeded to leave voicemail after angry voicemail about everything from his lack of compassion to asking a long laundry list of stuff returned. Go, Speedy Kitty, Go!: Some kittens are just too cute for words. But Speedy Kitten is extra adorable because he gets around using a specially-made toy cart. Speedy was born without a pelvic bone and so he can't use his hind legs properly. To help Speedy walk around (instead of drag his little body across the floor), the animal doctors at his local clinic constructed a cart made from K'NEX toy parts. Link Discuss
