I first came across the work of mid-20th century comic book artist and writer Boody Rogers from a reprint of on of his stories in an issue of RAW. The story featured centaur men who rode on the back of human women. Every story of his I've come across since then has been equally weird and wonderful.
Glyph Jockey has scanned a complete Rogers story from an issue of Big Shot, about a creepy pair of hats with legs getting married. Link

There's a great new collection called ART OUT OF TIME, that has a terrific Boody Rogers story along with lots of other cool stuff.
