Nina Kiriki Hoffman chat next Thursday

Next Thursday at 9PM Pacific, the magnificent fantasy writer Nina Kiriki Hoffman will host a live chat on the Clarion Foundation Website, open to Clarion Circle members. The Clarion Foundation oversees the Clarion science fiction/fantasy writers' workshop at UCSD (I'm a Clarion grad, and I'm in good company: Bruce Sterling, Octavia Butler, Lucius Sheppard, Kathe Koja, Jeff VanderMeer and many other writers are also grads). It's a non-profit (I'm a volunteer Board member), and it raises money through chats, auctions, and donations to the cause. If you love science fiction, chances are you love writing that has been through the Clarion workshops.

Nina Hoffman writes contemporary fantasy — a kind of American magic realism — that is heart-wrenching and enchanting. She's also an accomplished workshopper who gives great advice on improving your work for publication.

Nina Kiriki Hoffman is the author of ten novels and over 200 short stories, many of which have been gathered into collections. She won the Bram Stoker Award for her first novel, The Thread That Binds the Bones. Her second novel, The Silent Strength of Stones, was a finalist for both the Nebula and World Fantasy Awards.
