Steve Gunn: "Traditional american song structures with a raga influence"

Last week I purchased a copy of "Not The Spaces You Know, But Between Them," a magnificent 4 LP box set compilation from Three Lobed Recordings. Each side contains exclusive recordings by Three Lobed Recordings acts and friends like Sonic Youth, Sun City Girls, and Bardo Pond. I'm very familiar with several of the groups represented, such as those I just named, but I found this entire set to be stunningly beautiful. My favorite side belongs to Steve Gunn, an avant-garde guitarist and songwriter who, as the label perfectly describes it, fuses "traditional american song structures with a raga influence." I'm now compelled to buy as many of Gunn's releases as I can find, starting with his full-length LP "Boerum Palace". For a taste of that release, check out the track "Mr. Franklin" via free download from the Three Lobed site. By the way, the label has very few copies left of "Not The Spaces You Know, But Between Them," so you might also try ordering from San Francisco's Aquarius Records who had some in stock last time I checked.
