Interview with special effects pioneer Dennis Muren and Myst's Robyn Miller

Dennis Murren has more Academy Awards than any other living person (eight). And for good reason. He has supervised the special effects for the movies of Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and George Lucas. In the 1960s, when Muren was a teenager, he and some friends he'd met through an ad in the pages of Famous Monsters of Filmland made an effects-laden horror movie called Equinox on a budget of $(removed) It was released in 1970 and has since become a cult classic. In 2006 The Criterion Collection released an edition of Equinox.

The Immortal Augustus Gladstone, the new movie written and directed by Robyn Miller and presented by Boing Boing, uses footage from Equinox. I recently spoke to Dennis and Robyn about Equinox, and you can watch the interview here.

Note: There are a few free tickets still available to the Los Angeles screening of The Immortal Augustus Gladstone on Saturday night.
