Negative reviewers on Amazon to be unmasked

David Kravets reports on the decision from U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman, with respect to negative reviews of Ubervita's "Thermogenic Hyper-Metabolizer" pills.

"Ubervita may serve subpoenas on Amazon, Inc. (or other appropriate Amazon entity) and Craiglist, Inc. (or other Craigslist entity) intended to learn the John Doe defendants' identities, including their names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, IP addresses, Web hosts, credit card information, bank account information, and any other identifying information."

One funny part is that the positive reviews are obviously fake, too. It's a huge, meaningless arms race between positive and negative fake reviews generated by rival hucksters, the privacy of legitimate customers be damned. All to sell people these "caffeine and crap" weight loss pills.
