"Cancer, they agree, has become something they never imagined. 'A gift,' they say, almost in unison."

Pass the medical marijuana. I feel a wave of chemo-grade nausea coming on.

This feature AARP ran is notable in that it contains such a breathtaking abundance of cancer clichés. From "cancer is a gift" to "I turned on my [cancer-causing] genes with my poor diet," nearly every scrap of tired old victim-blaming bullshit and woo quackery has been crammed into this piece. A basic understanding of high school level science is all that's needed to fact-check this article as being total crap.

"Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge Beat Cancer and Heartbreak: The music legends are now teaching us a thing or two about living with joy" [AARP]
