The Best of the Orchestral Game Music Concerts

The Orchestral Game Music Concert series ran from 1991 to 1996, employing a number of Japanese orchestras to perform symphonic selections from some of video games' greatest titles. The compilation records were notoriously hard to find, until now. Here are some of my favorite tracks.

First, there's the main theme from Squaresoft RPG classic Chrono Trigger.

From Final Fantasy V comes the tear-inducing "Theme of Love."

Donkey Kong Country contributes "Water Music."

EVO: Search for Eden brings "Praise for Mother Earth."

Dragon Quest IV gives us "Sea Breeze."

And wrapping it up is Final Fantasy VI with a full, twenty plus minute performance of the Dream Oath opera.
