An 11-year-old boy was caught with a lighter and a leaf in his school backpack. Three separate tests on the leaf have come back negative for marijuana, so the school did the sensible thing and suspended the boy for a year.

According to [Roanoke, Virginia's Bedford Middle School assistant principal Brian] Wilson, the boy claimed to have "no idea" how the leaf got into his backpack. When his mother asked to see the leaf, she was allegedly told that "it's already in evidence."

"We have never seen the leaf. He's been out of school for six months," the boy's mother said.
