Liam is struggling to find his place in the Solar System. His pal Nick is set in the family business, but he doesn't have many prospects. The girl he likes is off to the Academy, to join the military, but before he can make any rash choices a run in with space pirates seems to set his path for him.
This is a great first entry in a series. I really enjoyed it the characters and development, "Rookie Privatee" certainly felt like reading the pulpy science fiction of my youth.
