The new feature is "a fast and simple summary of Twitter" for people who can't keep up.
We look at things like the accounts and conversations that are popular among people you follow, Tweets from people you’re closely tied to, topics and events that are trending in your area or within your network, and people that are popular or trending among people you follow.
This is cool, but the last year has been the year of thoroughly-trolled Twitter users wanting direct, finely grained control over what shows up in their feed. Yet it strikes me that Twitter's solutions—changes to blocking, more direct messaging options, algorithmic hostility detection, and now "highlights"—all seem to encourage voluntarily giving up more control of it.
We presume it can tell by the pixels.
