This year, minimalist music pioneer Terry Riley celebrates his 80th birthday and in his honor, my favorite avant-garde classical group Kronos Quartet are honoring Riley with a three-day festival starting on Friday in San Francisco!
Along with Kronos, the concert series at the SFJAZZ Center will feature a stellar line-up of special guests like Zakir Hussain, Wu Man, The Living Earth Show, Gyan Riley, Michael McClure, Kala Ramnath, and others. Happy birthday to Terry Riley and thank you to Kronos Quartet for pushing the boundaries of classical music for more than forty years!
