3D-printed handgun replica iPhone cases have been around for years as a joke. Now that street vendors and online shops are selling realistically-detailed versions, consumer and safety advocates are calling for bans.
This is different than pistol-grip attachments used to film with a phone. When the phone is in a pocket, it looks like a real gun handle. The New York Daily News reports:
Making matters worse is that the gun-handle cases — which can be purchased online or from street vendors throughout the city — also come with an app that puts a picture of a gun barrel on the iPhone's screen.
In addition to gunmetal black and chrome, some online stores sell colorful options.
