Whole Foods withdraws $6 "Asparagus water" from sale

After ridicule on social media, the store has decided not to sell expensive bottles of water containing asparagus spears.

The 16-ounce measures, which each came with several of the vegetables, were about five times the price of normal bottled water sold by the chain. The ripoff went viral after Marielle Wakim, an editor at Los Angeles Magazine, posted a photo to her Instagram page.

"Somewhere in L.A., Whole Foods executives are laughing at all of us," Wakim wrote.

Whole Foods, however, says the drinks photographed were actually a mistake: the water was "meant to be infused" with asparagus, not contain stalks of it.
