Today in unusual pets rescued from homes: 1 pig, 179 pigeons

A 700-pound pet pig has gotten its owners evicted from their home in Lea, Lincolnshire, England, reports the Gainsborough Standard.

The "stunned" landlord said that he had begun to suspect something
odd was afoot because "the state of the house and garden were not consistent with a dog" and during a previous inspection he was "kept out of one room where I suspect the pig was hiding."

179 "valuable" pigeons were taken from an apartment in North Carolina, reports the Charlotte Observer—so many that Carolina Waterfowl Rescue was overwhelmed and has asked for donations. The owner will not be charged with a crime, having cooperated with rescuers.
