Nothing makes me happier than friends coming over to sit on the deck and play chess.
Years ago, a very good friend gifted me this, or a nearly identical chess set. The double weighted pieces feel wonderful in the hand. My roll-up mat has been folded, crumpled and jammed into backpacks, saddlebags and sidecases. A good chess set, like this one, should last you a lifetime.
Chess is clearly a classic. It is a game friends can play while conducting a completely separate conversation, and still have a wonderful time. When I'm feeling competitive we use this timer.
I always lose.
