Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the winner of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant. But Miss Colombia was not the winner of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant. Miss Philippines was.
Host Steve Harvey says he made a mistake and didn't read the card correctly when he announced that the contestant from Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, had won. She had already been crowned by the previous year's Miss Universe, also from Colombia, when Harvey returned to the stage to apologize.
The crown was removed from Aravelo's head and placed on the mystified Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines.
Meanwhile, outside on the Vegas strip as the ceremony went awry, a driver mounted the pavement and ran into dozens of pedestrians, killing one and injuring 37.
Bonus Steve Harvey: he misspelled the contestants' countries' names in his tweet of apology.
The cock-up is so monumental, and the carnage outside so bizarre, that there are already conspiracy theories.

When businesses need big cloud projects done right, they need experts in DevOps. For the uninitiated, that’s shorthand for the framework that allows development and operations teams to work together toward the same goal – not as independent departments with their own agendas. There’s an arsenal of software that has cropped up to help in […]
