Emil Ferris' My Favorite Thing Is Monsters is the diary of a 10-year-old's investigation into the monster-filled murder of her upstairs neighbor.

This beautiful graphic novel in diary form is wonderful. Debut author and artist Emil Ferris tells an incredible story, with beautiful images. 10-year-old Karen Reyes sets out to discover who murdered her up-stairs neighbor, holocaust survivor Anka Silverberg. Karen documents, in exquisite detail, the movie monster and pulp horror plot as it unwinds.

I'm looking forward to volume 2.
