To combat what Trump perceives as "fake news" in the mainstream media, he's launched his own propaganda, er, I mean "news" show on his Facebook page. Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law who is married to his son Eric, plays the part of news anchor.
"This is a president who is putting America before himself," she says in her first "newscast."
"I bet you haven't heard about all the accomplishments the president had this week because there's so much fake news out there," she said. "The economy is booming, ladies and gentlemen."
According to Buzzfeed:
A Google search shows mainstream media outlets did cover the stories she recounted, such as Trump donating his salary, a new Foxconn manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, and economic growth. But they also reported on the turmoil within the White House, the failure of his party to repeal and replace Obamacare, and the president's tweets saying that he wanted to ban transgender people from serving in the military.
Trump's abrupt reversal of Department of Defense policy was a dominant news story in the mainstream media last week. BuzzFeed News reported that the White House did not have a plan for its implementation, how the news seemed to stun military leaders, and how the news was received by trans veterans.
Those stories were not included in Lara Trump's news update...
She first promoted what will apparently be a series two weeks ago, encouraging the president's 23 million followers on Facebook to tune in every week.
"We're going to bring you nothing but the facts — stay tuned," she said.
It’s been a while since we talked about Nicaragua, but the nefarious crap that’s been going on in the Central American nation for more than a year hasn’t stopped. In fact, according to the United Nation’s human rights office, things are most certainly getting worse. From Reuters: The U.N. human rights office on Tuesday criticized […]
Over at Medium, BB pal Douglas Rushkoff explores how today’s propaganda — born in the 17th century to propagate the Catholic faith and reborn in the 20th century as “public relations” — is no longer about convincing people to believe in whatever story the source happens to be selling. Today, Doug writes, “the primary goal […]
This morning I posted that Facebook and Twitter have taken the position that they will accept political ads that contain lies because they don’t feel it’s in their best interest to fact check claims made in the ads. Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren put Facebook to the test by running an ad on Facebook falsely claiming […]

For some folks, writing notes by hand is just plain easier, but having to re-type them later can be a huge bore, not to mention time-sink. The guys from Rocketbook successfully merged the best parts of analog and digital note-taking with their Everlast notebook awhile back. And now, that tech just got a lot more […]
There are fast-paced card games, and some of them even require enough dexterity for a mini-workout (like Skip-Bo or Snap). But there’s nothing quite like the Mokuru® Card Game, which uses an already addictive fidget toy as the centerpiece for a cutthroat game of tabletop challenges. The game is named for the toy that gets […]
