She also makes these cool wheel-thrown lithographed stoneware plates: "I print directly on wet clay using a lithography process, rolling wet print onto plates. Print is fired under the glaze as part of the clay body; it is not decals. Binary converts to Rutger Hauer/Roy Batty's Tears in Rain."
Most of my work has been influenced by the dichotomies and juxtapositions of rural Alaskan living. I'm particularly interested in exploring the intersections between technology and nature, art and craft, destruction and creation. As inspiration, I look for the magical within the mundane, provoke thoughtfulness with the practical and animate the pragmatic with mischievousness. I've worked with clay and the ceramic process since 1984. All my work is one of a kind or limited edition, designed and handmade by me in my small home studio in rural Alaska.
