Revolve has released a promotional video for its prototype collapsible airless tires. Originally designed for bicycles, the same tire can also be used on a wheelchair.
The video leaves more questions than answers, and there's not a demonstration of the wheel in use on a bike, but it's an interesting idea. It would be great to see this lead to some other designs, maybe one like this:
After a quick scan of their website it's not clear how it locks or how much weight or speed it can withstand.
