Visual effects house MPC offers a fascinating glimpse into the remarkable work they did to digitally recreate Rachel in Blade Runner 2049. Each iteration of these technologies inches close to indistinguishable duplicates.
Replicating Rachael for Blade Runner 2049 was both a huge honour for our artists as well as an exciting technical and creative challenge. The team lead by VFX Supervisor Richard Clegg worked closely with Director Denis Villeneuve and Production VFX Supervisor John Nelson.
The eyes are especially good, but there were a few moments where muscles around the mouth seemed ever so slightly off. An amazing accomplishment nonetheless!
