Japanese woodcut artisan makes iconic David Bowie mashups

Artist Masumi Ishikawa has announced a new project to immortalize iconic David Bowie imagery in the style of ukiyo-e, or Japanese woodcuts.

The David Bowie Ukiyo-e Exhibition will be held at BOOKMARC in Tokyo from June 23rd to July 1st and will include work inspired by Brian Duffys's 1973 "Aladdin Sane" cover (shown above). Below is an example of a classic snake charmer woodcut.
