Help rebuild 3 historically Black churches in Louisiana

As the world mourns what was lost in the devastating fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, the country's elite have pledged nearly half a billion euros towards the rebuild. Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted this morning that the company will contribute a yet-unspecified amount as well.

Yashar Ali, a writer for New York Magazine and one of the best people to follow on Twitter, noted that the rebuilding of Notre Dame will be well-funded and shared the GoFundMe for the three historically Black churches in a single Louisiana parish that were destroyed by fire over the course of two weeks.

21-year-old Holden Matthews has been charged with hate crimes in the arson attacks.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $1.8 million dollars to cover the cost of rebuilding. Ali's Twitter plea went viral this afternoon, bringing in close to $300,000 in a few short hours.
