'Casket' in river turns out to be concrete dock

After reports of a casket floating in the South River near Annapolis, Maryland, police responded only to find that it was a dock. [103 WRNR via AP]

Photos of the slab were posted to the Facebook page of local station WRNR. In the comments, one Allen Rucker shared a local legend.

This is no lie, about 6 years ago when the tar river flooded in North Carolina, and shut down 95, a mans casket floated out of the grave, and ended up at the house he once lived at. No bull

The Department of Natural Resources hydrographic operations team and the Maryland Natural Resources Police went out to investigate, according to a spokesperson, and discovered a far less spooky hazard: a floating dock.

The wayward dock was removed from the water Thursday.
