Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth, died today at 99 years old. The royal consort's death was announced by Buckingham Palace.
"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the palace posted on Twitter. "His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
In a statement, Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised Philip's expertise as a carriage driver.
