Washingtonian engages refrigerator in a one-sided gun battle

Found screaming incoherently in the alley outside his Yakima, Washington home, a frustrated gentleman had apparently thrown his gun into the road after his refrigerator failed to return fire.

Tales of imaginary subterranean aggressors failed early confirmation tests applied by local law enforcement, however, neighbors offered a vastly different recollection of events involving "soda."

KIMATV:

The man had been placing soda cans into the fridge when one exploded, police say. He immediately pulled the pistol out of his waistband and fired a round into the bottom of the fridge.

The man later told police in an interview that the people who live in the basement wanted to kill him and that they had shot at him, so he fired in self-defense.

Investigators also say there is no one that lives in the basement below the man, and that, in fact, there is no basement at all.
