Florida doctor loses job after Covid mask medical excuse letters sold for $50 online

After a mask mandate was imposed Sunday in Florida's Leon County, a notice appeared on an anti-mask site offering to sell opt-out letters to parents, signed by a doctor. The notice received more widespread attention that its author expected, and today emergency room physician Dr. Brian Warden was reportedly fired by the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee.

"We act with absolute integrity in all that we do, and it is our expectation that providers behave in a way that is consistent with those values," CRMC spokeswoman Rachel Stiles said in an email Tuesday night. "Immediately upon learning of this physician's actions, we began the process of removing him from providing services to our hospital patients."

The immense cost in money and time of a medical education, all thrown away for $50 and the fleeting satisfaction of sticking it to the system.
