Classic adventure Myst remade for modern machines

Myst, the adventure game that first linked us to the age of CD-ROM, was re-released this week as a modern first-person game for XBox, PC and Mac, complete with contemporary system requirements and the optional VR experience first premiered last fall.

Reviewers like it a lot, though they warn that the "amazing" VR must be experienced in the context of an early-1990s game design that isn't (and shouldn't be) changed. It runs natively on M1 Macs, too, and is optimized to run well on them at 4K.

A common complaint is that the original full-motion video characters (performed by Myst co-creators Rand and Robyn Miller!) were replaced by gamey CGI puppets. Modders already patched in the FMV, if that's your line in the sand.
