Amazing Fantasy No. 15 by Steve Ditko received a high bid for $2.82 million a week before Heritage Auctions' September Comics and Comic Art event. Spider Man's very first appearance takes place in this comic. The comic book is now the most expensive comic book ever sold at Heritage Auctions.
The comic book will be sold during a live auction on Sept. 9 that begins at 11 a.m. CDT. The session will unfold at Heritage Auctions' world headquarters in Dallas and at https://www.ha.com/. For Spiderman fans, this auction is a pretty big deal. Besides Amazing Fantasy No. 15, the auction includes several signature pieces of Ditko's original art, including Page 12 from Amazing Spider-Man No. 18.
I recently visited the Steve Ditko exhibit at The Bottle Works gallery in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, which is Ditko's hometown. The exhibit is open until September 11th, so if you're in the area, go check out some of Ditko's original art in the place where he grew up.
