Godzilla & Kong: The Cinematic Storyboard Art of Richard Bennett

Watching shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, one of the things I watch for is the concept art shown during the credits. For Boba Fett, I liked it more than the show itself!

Concept and storybook art and artists don't always get the credit or exposure they deserve. So much of the look, feel, and action of a film comes from the renderings of these talented artists.

Case in point is the storyboard work of Richard Bennett. A former comic book artist, Bennett has done storyboard art for Tenet, Star Trek Beyond, Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, and two episodes of The Mandalorian (eps 3.3 and 3.5). Bennett was also the storybook artist for Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong.

Bennett has teamed up with Clover Press to launch a Kickstarter for an art book collecting his storyboard work from the three Kong and Godzilla films. The 200-page outsized book will feature some of the best sequences from these films, along with full color stills of the final shots used. A special "Unused Scenes" sections will show some of the sequences that didn't make it into the films.
