Today, I stumbled upon this great collection of costume photos from a Mardi Gras celebration on Venice Beach in 1935. As someone in the comments mentioned, these photos are way better than Mid Journey! I love the hand-made originality of all the gigantic heads, and the way that these slightly creepy costumes are juxtaposed against people relaxing on the beach in their swimsuits.
