If you ever wanted a fancy Aeropress, the borosilicate Premium edition is it

Aeropress has competition of late in the form of Oxo's Rapid Brewer, a similar device that looks a little nicer on a kitchen shelf. The Aerobie patent is 20 years old, too, so improvements to the basic design are surely called for. Enter the $179 Aeropress Premium, made of stainless steel, aluminum and glass.

Our iconic 3-in-1 brewer, reimagined for an uncompromising coffee experience. Hand-crafted double wall Borosilicate glass chamber enhances heat retention and durability, while precisely engineered stainless steel and aluminum components add strength and style for a brew experience as smooth and refined as the taste of our signature brew.

It's otherwise still an Aeropress; how the double-walled glass and metal filter cap affect taste will surely be pored over by the fans.

I recently found a less expensive upgrade for my boring normal Aeropress in the form of the Fellow Prismo, which pairs a metal filter with a pressure-activated squirty cap. Though the idea is to make a more espresso-like drink, the killer app is being able to make coffee without paper filters or any possibility of water dripping through the filter before pressure is applied. I find that the metal filter is actually more of a chore to clean than the paper, though.
