Philips, who hold the patents on CD-audio, are making noises to the effect that since CD copy-protection breaks the standard they've established, they will withhold certification of copy-protected discs. In other words, copy-protected CDs will no longer officially be classed as CDs, but rather as round bits of shiny plastic of dubious utility. A fair summation if you ask me.
