Why blogs kick the NYT's ass on Google

Winer counters the dumbass shibboleth that blogs are "polluting" Google's search results, by explaining that the reason that blogs come up over the NYT in search results is that the archives of blogs are publicly accessible, while the NYT is locked up behind a for-pay service. It's so obvious in hindsight: if you want to show up in Google's search results, make your pages accessible to Google. Duh.
