The 50-ton carcass was en route to a research facility when the pressure of decomposition gases became to great for the beast's belly. The stinky mess, however, didn't stop "a large crowd of more than 600 local Yunlin residents and curiosity seekers, along with vendors selling snack food and hot drinks, (from braving) the cold temperature and chilly wind to watch workmen try to haul away the dead marine leviathan."
