In the late 1990s, Jonathan Weber and BB band leader John Battelle founded The Industry Standard, a weekly news magazine covering the dot-com economy (RIP). Last year, Weber launched New West, a news/community site about the Rocky Mountain region. Yesterday, New West broke the news of a Pearl Jam benefit August 29 in Missoula for Jon Tester, the president of the Montana state senate who is running against Conrad Burns for US Senate next year. Why does Pearl Jam care?
Weber says:
"Tester is a farmer from the high line with three fingers and a flat-top, a great Montana character and he's from the same little town as Pear Jam bass player Jeff Ament."
