Six Flags New Orleans locked its gates as Hurricane Katrina bore down on The Crescent City in 2005, and never unlocked them again. At least it hasn't yet — with the exception of one attraction that was rehabbed and moved to another Six Flags park, the rides have been so damaged by exposure to salt water that they're unsafe to operate. Last month the city, which owns the land under the park, gave local photographer Teddy Smith permission to go in and poke around with a video camera. The resulting film is almost painfully unsettling, whether you view the park as the set for a zombie movie that never got made, as the travel blog Gadling does, or simply as a reminder of how broken parts of New Orleans still are.
