Dick Clark asks Johnny the Snitch to explain ska

YouTube Poster

In the sixth episode of the 80s television show Police Squad!—which later developed into the Naked Gun film series—the shoe-shining informant known as Johnny is seen taking a bribe from one Dick Clark, who was hoping for some dirt a very important topic: the origins of ska.

This audio sample has been used on many, many ska recordings—including The Upbeat's "Upbeat," Steady Earnest's "Skin It Up," and opening to The Suspects' Ninety-Nine Paid album—but this is the first time I've actually seen the source of the infamous line.

Previously: Police Squad! was cancelled because the viewer had to watch it in order to appreciate it
