A ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet in Izmir, Turkey, was nearing its tragic conclusion when an uninvited cast member wandered onstage and quietly took over the production. This mischievous cat appeared during the final scene and began acting like it had been rehearsing with the company for weeks. The actors were not prepared for what went down next, but they handled it like the professionals they are.
The star-crossed lovers stayed fully committed to the act, despite the developing chaos. Meanwhile, the cat had other priorities. It began biting Romeo's head as he lay there, pretending to be dead. Juliette watched for a moment as she stayed in character, and then she improvised brilliantly.
Juliet began dragging Romeo off the stage, as if she was too heartbroken to leave him laying there. The cat lost interest in biting Romeo's head at this point, and hopped up on a piece of furniture. I usually don't go out of my way to watch plays, but I would pay to go and see this special edition of Romeo and Juliet any day.
