Tommy Wiseau's 2004 masterpiece The Room is, perhaps, the most infamous bad movie ever made. So much so that the movie about it being made went up for an Oscar, to say nothing of the video game adaptation.
In today's age of remakes and reboots, it was only a matter of time before someone proposed just that, which is how we ended up with The Room Returns. This surprise debut project from obscure filmmaker Brando Crawford (somehow) stars Bob Odenkirk in doubtlessly the biggest role of his career (Saul Goodman who?), leading an ensemble cast of actors you've probably seen around the Comedy Central circuit.
The goal is simple: gather as many talented actors as possible and see if it's even remotely feasible to do The Room as the emotional romance-drama it was originally meant to be. Results seem to vary.
According to Crawford, the entire thing was filmed in a single day "with no rehearsal and only teleprompters to guide them." It'll be receiving a limited screening at Hollywood Forever Cemetery next week, before hopefully being released into the wider world for all to see.
