Indian financial newspaper Business Standard reports that Buddha Films is talking to Google and other tech firms about using facial recognition software to find an actor to play Buddha. The paper also states that Shekhar Kapoor (Elizabeth, Bandit Queen) will direct the $120 million feature. Link to news story.

The fat statue in the face recognition/Buddha entry is not Buddha at all (that is, not Shakyamuni Buddha). He's Hotei. Common mistake among non-Asians though; here's your chance to clear it up a bit. Wikipedia entry link.
