Stephen Worth, director of the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive says:
Today at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive, we had a visit from animation designer, Katie Rice. Katie is the latest in a long line of artists like Grim Natwick, Freddie Moore and Mary Blair… she specializes in drawing girls. Her drawings are immediately appealing and full of real-life personality. Like Mary Blair, I can't imagine anyone not liking her work.Katie allowed us to digitize the artwork she plans to sell at the Santa Monica gallery, Every Picture Tells A Story. She and John K are hosting a gallery opening and musical hootnanny on May 27th, before and after a screening of John K cartoons at the Aero Theater across the street. It should be a real blast. Check out Katie's sketches and find out the details.
Lots of other great posts at the archive lately, including the first installment of an interview with John K, Bill Hanna, Joe Barbera and Friz Freleng, and some rare original Sunday pages of Cliff Sterrett's Polly And Her Pals.
Hard to keep up with all the great stuff we're digitizing lately!
