Blackphone 2

Blackphone 2, an upgraded version of the privacy-centered smartphone from Silent Circle, is available for pre-order.

The Swiss handset, designed by PGP inventor Phil Zimmerman, uses an Android fork named PrivatOS designed specifically to guard users' privacy and prevent data leakage. It even has its own App Store on top of the default set of nailed-down applications. The first-gen device's main drawbacks, according to reviewers, was its relatively low-end hardware and hefty price tag.

The new version will have a 5" 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage; the price isn't finalized, yet, but is likely to remain premium.
