Watch The Try Guys try masculine vulnerability

'The Try Guys' started as a jokey part of a clickbaity but harmless YouTube genre, but they've been slowly edging into much deeper topics involving masculine insecurities around their appearance, most notably Should The Try Guys Get Plastic Surgery?

The trend started when they did a video trying to quantify their attractiveness.

In the course of the video, it was briefly divulged that most of them had unusually low testosterone, some in the range typical for 80-year-old men. Trolls quickly jumped on this revelation as evidence that they were "soyboys," an alt-right slur implying liberal men are feminized by the phytoestrogens in soy milk and other soybean-based products like veggie burgers.

Like a lot of content creators, they left the Buzzfeed sausage factory to do their own thing recently. Let's hope they keep getting into more substantive stuff with their same inimitable style!
