Man on run after murder of trans student

Police released pictures of a man suspected of killing a transgender University of Washington student this week, and called upon the public to identify him. The high-definition security footage clearly shows the suspect's features and attire: in one he's looking right at the camera.

The suspect is a light-skinned black male approximately 5'7", thin build, wearing a long-sleeve dark blue full zip shirt with a light triangle style emblem inside a circle on the left front, a white collared shirt underneath, dirty blue jeans, dirty dark, possibly gray shoes with a light sole. Subject is wearing darker rimmed eyeglasses, has short black/ hair and a goatee with ingrown scruff around the jaw.

The victim was stabbed Sunday night in a laundry room at Nordheim Court, 5000 25th Avenue Northeast, a student accomodation building close to campus in Seattle, and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Though the have not yet named her or suggested a motive, authorities confirmed the victim was a transgender woman.

Police warn that he's armed and dangerous.

The Seattle Times reports that a burglary was attempted recently at Nordheim Court.

In that instance, a person "removed a window screen and leaned into the open window before being seen and told to leave," according to information provided to campus police on April 25. In that case, no weapon was reported.

"If there had been a crime involving an individual with a weapon entering a unit that was verified, it would have prompted a UW Alert message or a Notification of Criminal Incident to the Seattle campus," Balta wrote in an email.
